Stryker Cyber Attack Being Reported as Iranian War Retaliation

Iran-linked hackers claim cyberattack launched against U.S. medtech company Stryker.

According to multiple news agencies worldwide, a pro-Iranian cyber group, Handala, has claimed responsibility for a cyber attack on medical device giant, Stryker. The attack resulted with thousands of employees unable to access work systems and forcing a widespread shutdown of network‑connected devices, according to some reports.

A company report issued yesterday states, “Stryker is experiencing a global network disruption to our Microsoft environment as a result of a cyber attack. We have no indication of ransomware or malware and believe the incident is contained.”

A WSJ report claim the attack originated in the US then spread globally, and an Ireland-based tech media group,SiliconRepublic reported a post on X appears to be from Handala stating, “Our major cyber operation has been executed with complete success.”  The post says the attack was in retaliation for the “Brutal attack on the Minab school” and for “ongoing cyber assaults against the infrastructure of the Axis of Resistance.”

The post also suggests the group claimed Stryker’s offices in 79 countries have been forced to shut down, and that the attack wiped out more than 200,000 systems, servers and mobile devices, and that 50 TB of critical data has been extracted.

Yet another reported post on the page read, “You did not take our warning seriously and entered the dangerous game of attacking infrastructure. Now you are witnessing the most  powerful and extensive cyber-attack in recent years.”
