Leadership Team

Rick Biros, Publisher, MedTech Intelligence

Rick Biros

Founder, President & Publisher

Rick is an accomplished entrepreneur and media executive with more than 35 years of B2B media experience, including sales, operations, new product development, acquisition & divestiture, and startup.

While working with Food Processing and Food Engineering magazines in sales and management roles early in his career, an E. coli outbreak in the Pacific Northwest killed four children and made national headlines. The event led to Rick’s recognition of gaps in content among food industry trade journals…specifically Food Safety. Filling the void, he founded Carpe Diem Communications where he created a new industry segment and launched Food Quality, the first industry magazine serving the food safety and quality market.

Carpe Diem’s rapid success led to expansion with the Food Quality Award and The Food Quality Conference & Expo and the launch of two additional print titles, Pharmaceutical Formulation & Quality and Contamination Control. Rick has received editorial excellence awards from The American Society of Business Publication Editors which included his own monthly column in Food Quality.

In 2007, John Wiley & Sons, Inc. acquired Carpe Diem. By mid 2009, Rick continued his entrepreneurial interests with the development of Innovative Publishing Company, a digital media and events company initially serving the Medical Device Manufacturing community with digital content and a series of highly-focused conferences, now under the brand MedTech Intelligence. Food Safety Tech was launched in 2012, leading to expansion with the Food Safety Consortium Conference & Expo in 2014. By 2015, IPC’s current stable of B2B media and events was completed with the launch of Cannabis Industry Journal and the Cannabis Quality Conference & Expo.
