Leslie Trigg, CEO of Outset Medical, is the new Chair of The Medical Device Manufacturers Association (MDMA) Board of Directors.
Trigg follows the three-year tenure of Jeff McCaulley, CEO of Avalign Technologies, who oversaw the full repeal of the medical device tax, as well as the MDUFA V negotiations. Trigg was elected as the new Chair during the MDMA 2022 Annual Meeting where medical technology executives heard from HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra, CMS Chief Medical Officer Dr. Lee Fleisher, Senators Amy Klobuchar and Todd Young, Representatives Anna Eshoo and Suzan DelBene, and many more.
“Medical technology innovators are at the forefront of improving patient outcomes and reducing the cost of care, and I am honored to lead MDMA as they continue their tremendous work as the leading voice of our industry,” said Trigg. “Modern technology is impacting when, where and how healthcare can be delivered. Together, we have the privilege of imagining what the future of health care could look like, and turning invention into reality.”
“For 30 years, MDMA has been dedicated to serving innovative and entrepreneurial medical technology companies, and this dynamic ecosystem is poised to solve some of the most pressing issues facing patient care in the years to come,” said Mark Leahey, president and CEO of MDMA. “Leslie is an amazing leader whose vision will help guide MDMA and our industry over the challenges and opportunities facing the delivery of healthcare in the 21st century.”
Trigg highlighted the importance of shortening the gap between the regulatory process and securing reimbursement, and the successful implementation of the MDUFA V agreement as some of the board’s top priorities over the coming years.
